Western Australia’s third straight Sheffield Shield title is the sweetest, according to captain Sam Whiteman, who believes the historic triumph seals their place among the State’s greatest teams.
Whiteman was named player-of-the-final for his opening-day century and became a three-time shield-winning captain on Sunday night in a dramatic romp past Tasmania.
