Ankara, Turkey — Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has embarked on a historic five-day state visit to Turkey, marking the first visit by a Tanzanian leader to the nation in 14 years. She was warmly received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, signaling a deepening of diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
During her visit, President Hassan, accompanied by a delegation of business leaders, aims to enhance bilateral relations and expand cooperation.

A key focus of the visit will be a conference dedicated to increasing investment opportunities and market access for Tanzania’s agricultural products, a sector vital to the Tanzanian economy.
President Hassan highlighted the recent surge in trade volumes between Tanzania and Turkey, emphasizing the need to improve Tanzania’s trade balance with Turkey.
The discussions will also cover the signing of eight cooperation agreements, which are expected to further cement the partnership across various sectors.
In addition to economic topics, the two leaders will discuss pressing global and regional issues, underscoring the strategic importance of their countries on the international stage.
