Gather around the fire with the family as a self-styled travelling troupe performs its interactive show in the shadow of the Brig Amity this autumn.
The Thousand will bring its Firelight Storytelling Circle experience to Albany from April 12 to 14.
Each night will feature two shows, the first is the 50-minute family friendly sunset show starting at 6pm featuring the story of The Girl with No Shadow and the popular The Cat Who Cooked the Truth.
The second, a 90-minute general audience show intended for those aged 13 and older will start at 8pm and tell the tale of The Fool and the Ghosts of the Sunken Hearth.
“Storytelling has its roots in people gathered around a fire — a family group, a clan, visitors returned from travels afar, friends swapping tales,” project manager Rachel Knight said.
“A good story gives us a space together to pause and reflect and this was the inspiration for Firelight.”
Ms Knight said the troupe hoped the shows will entertain and inspire audiences.
“We hope that audiences feel delighted by the light-heartedness of some of our most charming and cheeky characters but also inspired by our more thought-provoking tales.”
A unique aspect of the evening will be the interactive part of the show.
“There is nothing like the thrill of being involved in a performance as an audience member,” Ms Knight said.
“My favourite part of the show is the audience participation, watching them get invested in the characters and come along for the emotional ride.”
Each show will have two tiers of seating — standard where attendees will be invited to sit on blankets and rugs around the fire, and deluxe which will provide a chair in the circle.
Tickets are still available but are selling quickly.
